- Alcohol service for reception and dinners

  • Biosphere 2 is part of the University of Arizona and our consumption of alcohol is governed by University and NSF regulations. Please bring $20 in cash (or $4/day) to exchange for 2 drink tickets/night if you want wine or beer with dinner. There is no cash bar.

- Food

  • Biosphere 2 is rather secluded so our meals must be catered. Vegetarian/Vegan selections are available if you have indicated this food preference on your registration form. Draft Menu

- About the "registration" costs: We have applied for NSF meeting support for 10 participants from each CZO (5 researchers and 5 students). Each CZO should have "annual meeting" travel budgeted for an additional two participants. Please indicate when you register if you are "covered" or "not-covered" ie. paying your own way.

  • Transportation to/from Tucson, AZ (you pay upfront - we will reimburse "covered" travel based on guidelines provided to Center directors(centers can designate 10-12 "covered" participants))
  • Rental cars are not covered under our budget. If you want one - it is your expense.
  • Lodging costs @ $74/day/rm (dbl occupancy) (CZO "covered" participants are pre-paid by our grant)
  • Meals (catered) @ $50/day/person (CZO "covered" participants are pre-paid by our grant)
  • Transportation supplement: $20 (for field trip and shuttle)
  • Bottom Line: On-site, Self-pay room and board costs for the full conference are:
    • 4 Nights (Sun Dinner - Thur Breakfast) = $333 (dbl); $481 (single)
    • 5 nights (Sun Dinner - Fri. Breakfast) = $420 (dbl); $605 (single)
  • Participants who are paying their own way will have to pay by credit card or check on-site, upon registering at Biosphere 2 based on the schedule above. Adjustments can be made if you are staying for less time.
  • Additional participants from within or outside CZOs are welcome to register and participate in the meeting (including submitting abstracts), at their own cost, after checking on space availability with the meeting coordinator, Jim Washburne, jwash@hwr.arizona.edu, 520-626-4107.
